Ghana Day 8

Day of rest...
... and shopping !!! Today was Saturday - so we spent the morning shopping at an African market followed by more shopping and lunch at the Accra Mall.
The African market was a great place - one would expect to be hassled and cornered and pushed to buy all the time, but the ahmosphere has been quite the opposite. Most of us were able to wander around the rustic shops and tight alleys without having to feel more pressure to buy than from a used car salesman in America. Some vendors where quite cute and inovative:
"Sir...sir... your friend is back here !"
"Which friend?" I asked thinking about one of our group members that needs an opinion.
"Me !!" came the reply from the vendor, smiling big and opening his arms in the universal welcoming sign.
"Come and see me in my shop."
I had to go... Most of us ended up bargaining around 50% off the initial discussion price.

We went for lunch at the Accra Mall ... and more shopping. The prices were a little high, so most of us used the time for cooling off from the 93F heat and to have lunch. The mall was full of locals and Westerners and looked like any township mall in America. It even had an iPhone store and a food court.

Our last four team members arrived late in the afternoon: Deb, Charlotte, Donnelles and Chris - so happy that the they have arrived safe and the whole team will be together this coming week.

Tomorrow after church service we'll head towards Assin Fossu with the medical team that arrived from Ecuador yesterday. Rev. Theo underlined during the whole group dinner tonight the beauty of gathering people from all over the world with a wide range of skills for one purpose: to glorify God and witness our Savior.

HCJB, Theovision, and Woodmen Valley Chapel have come together to act as a body of Christ for the glory of God - hard to imagine a more closer picture to heaven.

Dear Lord, it is for you that all of us have traveled so far - we're humbled that you have looked upon us with grace to use us in Ghana to heal spiritually and physically your people next week. Thank you for the day of rest today and for the unbelievable excitment regarding tomorrow. Please let your Holy Spirit do wonders for your glory - we're at your feet and ready to be amazed. Amen.
