Ghana Day 7

"A new command I give you: Love one another." - John 13:34

Certainly, Emily was our hero today when she stepped in swiftly and professionally to take care of her best friend Willi, who had a heat stroke right before lunch. We know that God has many amazing things planned for Emily during this trip, but - if nothing else - she had to be here to rescue Willi - thank you so much, Emily, for letting the Holy Spirit work through you so we can see God's love demonstrated in practice. We kept on praying for Willi outside until she was able to stand on her feet again and join us for lunch - thank you, Lord, for listening to our prayers.

During lunch we finally ate the tree hand- picked mango from 3 days ago (John and I called it Mangy). It was the best mango I ever had.
Shortly after, David set us up on the roof of the building for a group picture.

We managed to finish the plan for the day (4 block rows wall for the entire roof) shortly after lunch - just in time for 30 minutes of flag football, which ended up as a combination of football, soccer, and rugby. Mike had promised the local crew he would teach them American football - and he got everyone engaged and happy to participate. For 30 minutes, there was no difference between Americans and Ghaneans, light or dark skin, short or tall - just a buch of sweaty bodies in the heat of the Ghana sun laughing, kicking, throwing, tackling, and having a great time.

Theo and the site manager gathered us at the end of the day and gave each one of us beautiful hand made Ghanean scarve as a present for our help during the week. It humbled us so much to learn that one thing that the construction crew noticed was the love and care we have displayed for one another as a team during the week - I really love our team and we do take care of eachother and love each other as true brothers ands sisters that we are in Christ. I so much hope we'll keep in touch every now and then after the trip is over... In exchange for their kindness, we left all the tools and working gloves we had at Theovision, to be given away to the workers.
Well, construction time and civilized Accra is behind us now. Next week we'll be in remote areas helping the HCJB medical team provide much needed care to the sick in various villages. So much looking forward to more amazing grace poured into our lives and the land of Ghana...

Dear Lord, it has been such a humbling and amazing experience this week - thank you for everything you have helped us accomplish, for the love we have shown to one another and to the people we have come in contact with, and for your protection so that no one got hurt. Thank you for helping us witness YOU to the world. We are so amazed by your grace and your continuous care for us and we're humbly following your guidance into the next week. In our precious Savior's name we pray, Amen.
